Position Name Pen Portrait
Diocese Corporate Member Stuart Harrison

I am the Director of Education for the Diocese of Liverpool and the Chief Executive Officer for the Liverpool Diocesan Schools Trust.

I am a Foundation Governor at Christ Church CE Primary School in Bootle and I am a trustee of the Warrington Church of England Educational Trust. I have 27 years experience in education in both a Diocesan and Local Authority capacity.

Member Rev Bill Matthews

A former pupil of St Michael's C of E school, Hough Green, I have been employed in this Region's industry, commerce, education and more recently, parish ministry. From 1987 to 2010 we lived in the South of England. Our three children now live in various parts of England and currently our two grandchildren live locally.

In addition to being a trained teacher, I have served as governor of a number of junior and senior schools. I have had other governance roles in Further and Higher Education. At different times since entering the ministry in 1973, I have been both a paid and unpaid minister in church settings whilst also being a chaplain in college and university. For ten years

I was a full-time, sea-going chaplain in the Royal Navy. After retiring as team rector of 12 parishes in 2018, I have helped in a number of local parishes. My work as tutor on the Liverpool Diocese introductory course for Spiritual Directors along with being a spiritual director has been inspirational. My passion for education has motivated me to help create two MATs (one became the Three Saints Trust) and I was director of the Learning Together Trust, where my experience as trustee of a range of different charitable trusts (including as chair) was very helpful.

For various reasons I have spent many hours in Saint Ann's Centre. Thus, it could fairly be said that I have connections with each of the schools in the Three Saints Trust. I intend to build on those connections during my time as Member.

Member Andrew Brooks

I retired in 2018, following a 35 year career in teaching, the final 23 years being at St Mary and St Thomas C.E as a senior teacher.

Virtually my entire working life has been dedicated to education, and during that time I've gained considerable experience in many different aspects. I've taught in both the Primary and Secondary sectors, leading different areas of the curriculum (including R.E.); leading and planning worship; SENDCO; First Aid lead; Forest School leader and a class teacher.

I continue to remain in touch with the profession, volunteering at St Mary and St Thomas and delivering some Forest School sessions at another school.

Just before retirement I set up as a sole trader, woodturning and making wooden products.

As a member, I hope my experiences and beliefs will continue to benefit children and colleagues of the wider Trust.

Member Carol Harris

I am a retired, experienced teacher, having spent some 43 years in the classroom, teaching children of all ages in the Primary Sector, in schools across the St.Helens L.A. I attended the old St Thomas’ School in Peter Street and taught for a number of years in the new school St Mary & St Thomas in Barton Street.

I am a practising and lifelong member of The Church of England, based at St Thomas’, Eccleston. I have always been interested and active in the management of the Church at St Thomas’ and I am keen to support the vital link between Church and School. I am a member of the Parochial Church Council and I am also the Child Safeguarding Officer in Church. I am a former Sunday School Teacher and was leader of the Mothers’ Union branch until it closed. I am member of the Entertainments Committee, helping to organise social functions which raise much needed funds for the upkeep of the Church. Currently, I am helping with ‘Reading Recovery’ with KS2 children in school for two days each week.

I have been married to Peter for 55 years, we have one son and daughter-in-law and two lovely grandchildren.

Amy Bradley

I have been involved in school governance for over 10 years, since the eldest of my four children started school. My background is finance, but I also have experience working as a foster carer and overseeing pupil premium and looked after children within a high school setting. My motivation in all I do, but particularly in my participation in governance, is to improve outcomes for all children. This continues to be both challenging and rewarding.

I have one daughter who is still in Primary school and her educational journey has been the catalyst for my governance journey.

I am a serving police officer with over 15 years experience which gives me a good understanding of safeguarding for our children and families and a very good understanding of the local communities of several of the schools in the Trust.

Director Jane Kennedy

I have worked in education for 34 years. I have taught a wide range of subjects across the years before becoming a senior leader in 2000. I have worked in mixed and faith based single sex secondary schools across Liverpool and Warrington and have previously been involved in Extended Services work, Director of a dynamic Teaching School and currently Director of Inspire Learning Teaching School Hub covering Liverpool and Wirral. The Hub sits within a Catholic Multi Academy Trust but serves all schools within the area. I have worked in schools in varying Ofsted categories and been an integral part of school improvement. In January 2006 I gained my National Professional Qualification for Headship, a qualification that taught me as much about myself, and my leadership style, as it did about Headship.

I am passionate about education - children get one chance and deserve the very best provision. This starts at home but early years education is crucial if we are serious about narrowing gaps. For that reason, I have been a Governor on the Board of a Nursery School for two years, and a Strategic Partner for a Stronger Practice Hub too. Equally, our children deserve the very best teachers who in turn need to be trained and nurtured if they are to be retained. This drive has led me to be on the Strategic Board for Liverpool Hope University, and the Governing Boards for University College London's Early Career Teacher Entitlement and National Professional Qualifications.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, cooking and birdwatching, with an emerging interest in wildlife photography.

Director Linda Lavangna-Slater

With over 32 years of experience in education, I bring a wealth of expertise in mathematics education, early intervention, and special educational needs. I currently work as an independent mathematics consultant, while also serving part-time at Edge Hill University as a Development Lead for Every Child Counts intervention programmes.

My career has been marked by a strong focus on supporting inclusive learning, having worked with Manchesters Services for Inclusive Learning as a Learning Support Teacher. In this role, I collaborated closely with SENDCOs, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and speech and language therapists to provide holistic support to pupils. Since 2008, I have also been a National Adviser for Edge Hill University's Every Child Counts programme, where I have contributed to the research, writing, and development of mathematics intervention programmes.

I hold a Master's degree in Early Intervention and have extensive experience leading and innovating in the field. I have served as a Work Group Lead for Maths Hubs, focusing on Research and Innovation for SEND, Mastery Readiness, and Specialist Knowledge for Mathematics. In addition, I am a work group led for the NCETM Professional Development Lead programmes and the lead facilitator for the NiOT NPQLPM programme for teachers.
